Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most often. Can't find what you need? Contact the township and we'll be glad to help.
Taxes & Assessing
Property taxes can be paid online, by mail, in person at Township Hall, or using the drop box outside the main entrance. Summer taxes are due September 14 and winter taxes are due February 14.
You may appeal your assessment to the March Board of Review. Notices of assessment are mailed in late February with instructions and hearing dates.
Permits & Zoning
Many projects — including additions, decks, fences, and accessory structures — require a zoning permit. Contact the Zoning Administrator before starting work to confirm which permits your project needs.
The Zoning Department can confirm your property's zoning district and the uses permitted in it. Zoning maps are also available for reference.
Elections
You can register to vote through the Clerk's office or the state's online voter registration system. Registration is available up to and including Election Day at Township Hall.
Government
The Township Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at Township Hall. Agendas are posted before each meeting and minutes are posted once approved.
Submit a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in writing to the Township Clerk. FOIA request forms, procedures and guidelines, and the written public summary are available on the Forms & Documents page.
General
Cemetery lots may be purchased through the township office. Complete the cemetery lot purchase application and contact the office to confirm availability.
